Dr. Gerald Phipps attended the University of Washington where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. He continued on to Washington University, St. Louis, to earn his Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Between dental school and orthodontic specialty training, he served as a Dental Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service where he completed a one-year General Practice Residency. He then returned to Washington University and completed a 2-year Orthodontic Residency earning a Master of Science in Orthodontics.
Dr. Phipps is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and was one of the first Spokane orthodontists to achieve Invisalign Preferred Provider status. He has been consistently recognized as a Top Dentist and Specialist by Spokane /Coeur d’Alene Living Magazine. He served on the Board of Directors and then as Editor for the Washington State Dental Association for a total of nine years. He is a member of the following organizations:

- American Dental Association
- Washington State Dental Association
- Past President of the Spokane Dental Society
He is known as an innovator, educator, respected clinician and advocate for oral health. Dr. Phipps is a leader and active member of several dental and orthodontic study clubs and advisory panels and he recently participated in the development of the next generation of orthodontic adhesives and precision braces. He has authored several publications and been a featured speaker at continuing education programs nationally and internationaly. He has been inducted as a Fellow into several honorary organizations including the International College of Dentists, American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He serves as Trustee on the Washington Dental Service Foundation and is the Senior Orthodontist on the Inland Empire Craniofacial Review Board. He was recently awarded the Washington State Dental Association President’s Award for outstanding contributions to dentistry in the state of Washington.
Dr. Phipps hails from the Pacific Northwest. Having grown up in Bellevue, Washington, he and his wife, Debbie, relocated to beautiful Spokane in 1987 to start an orthodontic practice and raise their family. When he’s not creating dazzling smiles, he enjoys biking, skiing, hiking, Husky football and Gonzaga basketball – or just spending time with family and friends.
